Cromartie Colours underglazes are kiln-fired ceramic underglaze colours for pottery painting, bisque decoration and ceramic studio work. They give potters, pottery painting studios, schools and hobby makers a versatile fired colour range for detailed brushwork, bold painted designs and decorative ceramic techniques.
Apply one coat for a more translucent colour, two coats for a semi-opaque finish, or three coats for a stronger solid colour effect. This makes Cromartie underglaze colours useful for delicate shading, sgraffito, sponging, layering and solid colour decoration.
Cromartie Colours are non-toxic and suitable for food-contact pieces when covered with a food-safe clear glaze and fired correctly. They are suitable for earthenware work and can also be fired up to Cone 6, although higher stoneware firings can change the final colour response.
Cromartie underglaze colours work well for brushwork, sgraffito, sponging and layering. They can be combined with Cromartie Crystals and other ceramic glazes, or used in traditional Majolica techniques when applied over an opaque, non-moving glaze.
