Pyrometers & Kiln Temperature Measurement

Accurate temperature control is essential for consistent ceramic and glass firing. Our range of pyrometers and thermocouples provides reliable, real-time temperature readings for kilns used in pottery studios, schools, colleges, and industry.

What Is a Pyrometer?

A pyrometer is an external digital temperature reader used to monitor kiln temperatures independently from the main kiln controller. They are particularly useful for:

  • Checking accuracy of your kiln controller
  • Monitoring temperature during bisque and glaze firings
  • Use with older kilns or manually-controlled kilns
  • Verifying soak temperatures and firing curves
  • Teaching environments where visual monitoring is required

Thermocouples for Pyrometers

We supply both Type R and Type K thermocouples suitable for use with our portable pyrometer units. These high-temperature sensors offer accurate and reliable readings up to 1350°C depending on type, and are ideal for schools, studios, or professional workshops.

  • Type R Thermocouples: High-temperature platinum/rhodium sensor for up to 1350°C
  • Type K Thermocouples: General-purpose sensor ideal for ceramics, glass, and test firing
  • Supplied with leads, plugs, or mounting options depending on model
  • Suitable for stoneware, earthenware, mid-fire, raku, and test firings
