Black Underglaze for Outlines, Lettering & Fine Detail
Black Cromartie Colours Underglaze provides a strong dark colour for outlines, lettering, fine details, monochrome designs, shadows and areas that need clear visual contrast. The 59ml squeeze bottle is particularly useful for smaller projects, test pieces and precise brushwork where only a modest quantity of black ceramic decorating colour is needed.
Build the colour with two to three coats when a fuller black result is required, then cover with your choice of clear glaze before firing. This smaller size also gives you a practical way to add Black to a fired colour palette without committing to the larger bottle. Cone 6 stoneware firing can create colour changes compared with lower-temperature results.
- Useful for brushwork, sgraffito, sponging and layering
- Can be combined with Cromartie Crystals and other ceramic glazes
- Suitable for traditional Majolica techniques when applied over an opaque, non-moving glaze
