BOTZ Earthenware Glazes for Kiln-Fired Colour

BOTZ earthenware glazes showing a selection of fired ceramic glaze colours and decorative effects including metallic, flowing, mottled and crackle finishes

BOTZ earthenware glazes provide a varied range of kiln-fired colours and effects in convenient 800ml jars for decorating biscuit-fired ceramics. Supplied ready to use for brush application, the range gives you plenty of choice for adding fired colour and distinctive glazed surfaces to your pottery.

For most BOTZ Earthenware glazes, stir thoroughly and apply 2–3 coats to clean, dust-free biscuit-fired clay, allowing each coat to dry before adding the next. The standard firing range is 1020–1060°C, with approximately 1050°C recommended for most colours and a 10–20 minute soak at the final temperature. Always check the individual glaze instructions where a colour or effect has different application or firing requirements.

Application & Firing Guide

  • Allow the completed glaze coating to dry thoroughly before firing; approximately one day of drying is recommended for best results.
  • BOTZ recommends biscuit firing at a minimum of approximately 1000°C before glaze application.
  • Many colours can be fired above the standard range, up to 1100°C, but only where the individual glaze instructions confirm this.
  • Check individual products for special application requirements, running behaviour, Raku suitability and whether BOTZ specifically recommends the glaze for tableware.
  • Keep the kiln room well ventilated during firing and discharge kiln fumes directly outdoors.
