Muted Purple Underglaze for Layered Ceramic Decoration
Cromartie Purple is a muted mauve-purple underglaze that gives ceramic decoration a softer, more subdued purple than a highly saturated violet. The fired sample shows a gently dusty purple tone that can work particularly well for decorative brushwork, shaded details and layered colour where a strong bright purple would feel too dominant.
Choose this colour when you want purple with a restrained, slightly muted character while retaining the versatility of the Cromartie Colours range. It can be used across the supplied Cone 06 to Cone 6 firing range, although Cone 6 stoneware firing can change the colour, so testing is sensible when matching the expected fired shade is important.
- Suitable for brushwork, sgraffito, sponging and layering
- Can be combined with Cromartie Crystals and other ceramic glazes
- For Majolica techniques, apply over an opaque, non-moving glaze
