Countdown to Halloween! Get spooky with our Halloween paint your own pottery, crafts & creative favourites
1st & 2nd October 2026
What a fabulous couple of days at Cromartie! We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the one and only Jeff Rottman of GR Pottery Forms, who joined us for two inspiring days of demonstrations, creativity and hands-on clay work at Studio 70.
Across the two days, Jeff showcased the versatility of GR Pottery Forms and the many possibilities they offer for handbuilding with clay. From watching techniques demonstrated step by step to getting hands-on and creating with the forms themselves, there was plenty of making, learning and inspiration along the way.
Thursday 1st October
The first day was all about seeing GR Pottery Forms in action. Jeff demonstrated different clay formers, drape moulds and handbuilding techniques, showing how a wide variety of shapes and projects can be created while sharing practical tips and answering questions throughout the afternoon.
Friday 2nd October
On Friday it was time to get hands-on. Jeff guided attendees through using the forms themselves, helping everyone explore handbuilding techniques and create their own clay pieces step by step. The relaxed practical session also included lunch and refreshments, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and experiment.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the two days such an enjoyable event, and an extra special thank you to Jeff for sharing his knowledge, enthusiasm and creativity with us. It was wonderful to see so many ideas taking shape and to spend two days surrounded by people who love working with clay.
Developed by production potter Jeff Rottman, GR Pottery Forms provide a simple, reusable way to create repeatable slab-built ceramic shapes without using a pottery wheel.
Clay can be draped or pressed over the forms to create clean, consistent shapes while still keeping the individuality and character of handmade ceramics. The technique works beautifully for plates, dishes, trays, bowls and a wide variety of decorative and functional handbuilt pieces.
With different shapes and sizes available, the range gives potters plenty of scope to experiment with form, texture, decoration and surface design.
You can now explore our range of GR Pottery Forms, including clay formers, drape moulds and tools for handbuilding. Choose from a variety of shapes and sizes for creating repeatable pottery projects in studios, classrooms, workshops or at home.
GR Pottery Forms make it easier to create repeatable handbuilding projects without taking away the creative freedom of working with clay, making them useful in a wide range of pottery and ceramics settings.
Pottery studios and ceramic cafés – useful for repeatable projects, classes and customer workshops.
Schools, colleges and education settings – ideal for accessible handbuilding projects across different experience levels.
Workshop leaders – create structured clay projects while still allowing plenty of room for individual decoration and creativity.
Individual potters and makers – explore different forms and create consistent shapes without needing to throw every piece on the wheel.
Thank you again to everyone who joined us for our GR Pottery Forms demo and workshop days. Keep an eye on our events pages for more pottery demonstrations, creative workshops and special events at Cromartie Hobbycraft.
