Gare Pottery Glazes for Bisque & Low-Fire Ceramics

Gare pottery glazes are low-fire ceramic glazes for bisque, designed to create rich, high-gloss fired finishes with a high-fire look. The colours are inspired by natural surfaces and can produce multi-tone effects that vary by layering, coat thickness, application and the shape of the piece.

Many Gare glaze colours are reactive and move during firing, making them especially effective on textured bisque where the glaze can seep, pool and break over raised or recessed detail. Colours numbered 9529–9536 are non-reactive, making them useful when you want to add Gare Fun Strokes underglazes on top for lettering, designs or extra decoration.

How to Use Gare Pottery Glazes

Sponge the ware to remove dust.
Shake the bottle or jar well before use.
Apply 3–4 generous coats of colour to shelf Cone 04 bisque, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
Fire to shelf Cone 06.

Layering Gare pottery glazes can create different colour blends and surface effects, so test pieces are useful before using a new combination on important work. Reactive colours are best treated as variable glaze effects rather than exact repeatable flat colours.
