Studio Line Celadon Stoneware Glazes

Studio Line Celadon stoneware glazes are translucent, glossy celadon glazes for pottery and ceramics. They are designed to pool over carved, stamped and textured surfaces, creating deeper colour in recessed areas while raised details fire lighter for classic celadon contrast.

Use these Milton Bridge Studio Line celadon glazes on their own for subtle translucent colour, or combine them with compatible Studio Line stoneware ranges for layered effects. Final results will vary depending on clay body, glaze thickness, combinations and firing schedule, so test pieces are recommended before larger work.

Firing & Finish

  • Firing range: Cone 4–9, approximately 1180–1280°C
  • Finish: translucent, glossy celadon-style surface
  • Food safe: when fired to the manufacturer’s recommended temperature
  • Best on: textured, stamped or carved pieces where glaze can pool in recessed areas
  • Visual effect: deeper, glossier colour in recessed details with lighter raised areas for contrast
  • Application: apply even coats to suitable stoneware bisque

Stir well before use. Brush, sponge or stamp the glaze onto your piece, applying 2–3 layers depending on the result you want. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next.

Celadon glazes can be intermixed to extend the colour palette. They can also be mixed with matt glazes for a satin look, or with Vibes reactive glazes for a stronger layered effect.

As a Cone 6 example, fire at a rate of around 175°C per hour up to 1220°C, then adjust according to your kiln, firing programme and desired finish.

Note: Always test glazes with your chosen clay body, application thickness and kiln schedule before using them on important work.
