Duncan True Matte Glazes for Pottery, Bisque & Ceramics

Duncan True Matte glazes are low-fire ceramic glazes for pottery, bisque and ceramic painting. They fire to a smooth matte finish, giving pieces a modern, refined look with soft colour and a non-gloss surface.

This non-toxic, food-safe glaze range includes a palette of prismatic colours that can be used for single-colour designs, paired colour work or Majolica techniques. Use this page for the main Duncan True Matte glaze range; for softer pastel shades, browse the related Duncan True Matte Pastel glazes.

How to Use Duncan True Matte Glazes

  1. Apply to shelf Cone 04 bisque.
  2. Apply 3–4 smooth, even coats.
  3. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next.
  4. Fire to shelf Cone 06.
  5. Clean up with water.

For best coverage, some coats can be sponged on before continuing with smooth brush application. Fired results may vary depending on application thickness, bisque surface and firing conditions, so test pieces are useful when trying a colour for the first time.

You can also return to the Fired Colour category for more ceramic glazes and underglazes.
