Translucent White Celadon Glaze for Carved & Textured Detail
White Studio Line Celadon Glaze creates a translucent glossy white surface that allows the form and detail of the clay beneath to remain visible. On carved, stamped and textured pieces, the glaze can settle more deeply into recessed areas while raised sections stay lighter, helping throwing lines and surface decoration stand out without opaque coverage.
Choose White when you want a quiet neutral celadon finish that emphasises shape and texture rather than covering them with a solid white colour. Studio Line Celadon colours can also be intermixed to extend the palette, while mixing with matt glazes can produce a softer satin look and combining with Vibes reactive glazes can create stronger layered effects.
- Stir well and apply 2–3 even coats by brush, sponge or stamp, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
- Apply evenly to suitable stoneware bisque, especially where carved or recessed detail is intended to remain visible.
- For a Cone 6 example, fire at around 175°C per hour to 1220°C, then adjust the programme to suit your kiln and desired finish.
