Metallic Copper Mid-Fire Glaze with Rich Black Undertones

Blackened Copper Speedball Mid-Fire Glaze develops a deep copper-red surface with rich black undertones and metallic variation. Texture and glaze thickness can make a noticeable difference to the fired appearance, allowing darker areas and brighter copper-toned flashes to develop across raised, recessed and heavier-coated sections.

Choose Blackened Copper when you want a darker metallic finish with more variation than a uniform copper colour. Cone 5 can produce satin black where the glaze is thinner alongside copper-red areas, while Cone 6 develops a glossier copper-red surface with metallic flashes. It can also be layered to create further variation, with supplied Cone 6 examples shown over several other Speedball Mid-Fire colours.

Stir thoroughly before use and apply each coat evenly.
For the supplied layering examples, apply two coats of Blackened Copper over two coats of the chosen base glaze and fire to Cone 6.
Textured surfaces and heavier application can emphasise colour variation and brighter copper-toned flashes.
Follow the specific firing and glazing instructions for your kiln and process.

Subject to exceptions, we are happy to accept returns of incorrectly ordered or mispicked items within 28 days of delivery. Your 28 day period begins on the date shown at the top of your invoice.
