Frosty Green Variation with Warm Yellow Pooling
Winter Green C6 Pro Series Stoneware Glaze is a semi-opaque green glaze that changes noticeably with application thickness and clay body. Thicker coverage can fire to a frosty green with subtle warm yellow pooling, while thinner coats may appear more transparent and celadon-like on porcelain or shift towards grey-green on stoneware. The colour movement suits ridged vessels, carved details and softly textured forms.
Choose Winter Green when you want more surface variation than a uniform green or celadon glaze, with the possibility of crystalline detail during a slow cool. The result remains sensitive to thickness and firing schedule, and the glaze can run if taken above cone 6. Use labelled test tiles to compare the intended clay body and cooling cycle before committing to important work.
- Test porcelain and stoneware bodies separately to compare their colour response.
- Keep single-glaze and layered samples clearly labelled for future reference.
- Add Powder Gum Arabic as required for a thicker applied finish.
