Thicken Glazes and Strengthen the Dry Surface
Powder Gum Arabic is a ceramic additive for adjusting glaze and underglaze consistency and strengthening the dry surface before firing. It is useful when prepared ceramic colour or glaze needs controlled thickening, helping reduce rubbing and smudging while decorated or glazed pieces are handled in the studio.
Use it with ceramic glazes and underglazes, including C6 Pro Series liquid and brush-on glazes. Dissolve the powder in hot water before adding it gradually as required. Gum Arabic can also act as a mild deflocculant that increases fluidity, and standing mixtures may settle, so stir or remix before each use.
- Binding action can help applied glaze or underglaze adhere to bisque or greenware
- May provide a plasticising effect to support workability
- Add gradually to control the final consistency
