Schwarz Clay is a high-quality German stoneware clay with a distinctive colour change and excellent workability. Firing from grey through to anthracite, this versatile clay body contains 25% chamotte, helping to provide strength and structure for both hand-building and throwing projects.

This plastic clay body is ideal for building smaller pieces as well as throwing on the potter’s wheel, and is particularly well-suited for creating larger works. Its fine chamotte content adds strength and stability, making it suitable for both detailed forms and more substantial ceramic pieces.
At lower firing temperatures, Schwarz Clay exhibits attractive light grey shades, gradually transitioning to a rich black as the temperature increases. This gives ceramic artists plenty of visual flexibility, making it suitable for functional pieces, decorative ceramics, sculptural work and professional-grade stoneware projects.
