Warm Tortoiseshell Powdered Glaze for Textured Stoneware
Tortoiseshell Milton Bridge Stoneware Glaze develops a warm golden-brown fired surface with fine mottled variation rather than a completely flat single colour. The shifting brown and amber character is particularly effective across textured stoneware and surface detail, where changes in the glaze can become part of the finished decoration.
Choose the 1kg pack when you want the dry glaze format in a smaller quantity for studio use or testing before preparing more material. The clay-free recipe uses brushing medium to support adhesion, extend shelf life, reduce settling and help minimise crazing, while the final colour can vary with the clay body, application and firing process.
- Test the mixed glaze on the intended clay body before committing a full batch.
- Compare application thicknesses on labelled test pieces when colour consistency matters.
- Keep a fired reference sample to help compare later glaze batches.
