The Cromartie C6 Pro Series Crystalline Glazes offer a professional, mid-fire solution for creating crystal effects on cone 6 porcelain and stoneware. Carefully formulated to minimize run or crazing, these high-performance glazes allow potters to achieve unique decorative finishes on their ceramic pieces.
Apply an even layer by dipping or thin with water for spraying. Thin layers yield a matte finish, while thicker layers encourage large zinc silicate crystals to form during firing. Adjust application and thickness to control crystal growth and glaze movement. Always test on your chosen clay body before full-scale use.
For a thicker finish, add Powder Gum Arabic as required.
Use the recommended firing schedule for best results, which fires to cone 6, then drops to approximately cone 04 to allow crystals to develop fully. For full firing instructions, click below.
