Pale Rutile Variation for Cone 6 Pottery
Satin Rutile C6 Pro Series Stoneware Glaze develops a pale, softly varied fired surface with muted cream, grey-green and blue-grey movement. The changing tones follow throwing lines and shallow texture, giving simple cylindrical forms and gently ridged pieces a quiet, weathered character without relying on one strong, uniform glaze colour.
Choose this glaze when you want restrained rutile variation rather than a bold, even surface. Clay body, application thickness, layering and kiln conditions can alter the balance of tones, so compare clearly labelled test tiles on the intended porcelain or stoneware body before applying a new method or combination across a full batch.
- Keep a reference test tile from each firing for later comparison.
- Label layered tests with the order in which each glaze was applied.
- Add Powder Gum Arabic as required for a thicker applied finish.
