Varied Red Colour for Textured Cone 6 Pottery
Crocus Red C6 Pro Series Stoneware Glaze creates an opaque red surface that can range from deep burgundy to brighter apple-red tones. The darker breaks and changing colour visible across fired samples work particularly well on thrown vessels, ribbed forms and relief details, where the glaze can emphasise texture while retaining its strong red character.
Choose Crocus Red when you want a more varied result than a flat single-tone red and the option to explore layered combinations. Holding at peak temperature or firing to cone 7 can introduce purple flecks and flame-orange colour, so compare labelled test tiles first and allow for changes caused by clay body, application thickness and kiln conditions.
- Compare smooth and textured test pieces to assess the darker colour breaks.
- Test standard cone 6 and adjusted firing schedules separately.
- Record the glaze order when trialling layered combinations.
