Wood-Fired-Style Brown Ash Surface for Cone 6 Pottery

Brown Ash C6 Pro Series Stoneware Glaze creates an atmospheric ash-style surface designed to resemble pottery fired in a wood kiln. Its rust-brown, orange-brown and deeper brown variation follows throwing lines and textured areas, making it particularly effective on ridged vessels, carved details and forms where changing colour can emphasise the structure of the piece.

Choose this glaze when you want warm wood-fired character from an electric cone 6 firing rather than a flat, uniform brown surface. It is especially responsive to the clay beneath: brighter bodies and porcelain show the colour clearly, while some stonewares can produce a darker result and greater glaze movement, so test the intended body first.

  • Compare the glaze on brighter and darker clay bodies before larger applications.
  • When brushing, consider adding a small amount of brushing medium first.
  • Add Powder Gum Arabic as required for a thicker applied finish.

When returning items to us, please include a note or copy of your sales order or invoice with your goods to enable us to process your refund. We can either arrange a refund for the returned items or a credit note, the value of which can be deducted from your next order. Refunds will be credited to the original payment card. Goods must be returned in a fully resaleable condition and any lids, packaging and labels must be intact. Please note, we will only refund or credit the sale value of incorrectly ordered goods – not any return postage. We reserve the right to refuse an exchange or refund if goods are not returned in a saleable condition.
