Wood-Fired-Style Ash Variation for Cone 6 Pottery
Blue Ash C6 Pro Series Stoneware Glaze creates an atmospheric ash-style surface designed to resemble the variation associated with wood-kiln firing. The fired appearance moves through blue-grey, muted green and earthy brown tones, allowing throwing lines, ridges and shallow texture to remain visible beneath the changing colour.
Choose this glaze when you want cool-toned ash character rather than a flat, uniform blue finish. Brighter clay bodies and porcelain show the colour most clearly, while the glaze can become darker and may run on some stoneware bodies. Test the intended clay, thickness and any layered combination before glazing important work.
- Compare the glaze on brighter and darker clay bodies before larger applications.
- When brushing, consider adding a small amount of brushing medium first.
- Add Powder Gum Arabic as required for a thicker applied finish.
