Cool Blue Crystalline Glaze with Warm Brown Contrast
Siderite Studio Line Crystalline Glaze develops cool blue to blue-grey crystal formations across a warm brown gloss surface. The fired sample shows crystals ranging from smaller rounded clusters to a larger focal formation, creating pronounced contrast and an organic mineral character rather than a uniform all-over colour.
Choose Siderite when you want individual crystalline accents to stand out clearly against a warmer background. Crystal size, spacing and distribution can change with glaze thickness, clay body and firing conditions, so use the sample as a guide and test your chosen application and firing schedule before committing to important work.
- Known to flow during firing, so keep heavier application away from the base and allow for glaze movement.
- A standard Cone 6 firing at around 1220°C can develop crystal formations with a soak.
- Extended or stepped cooling can encourage larger or more complex crystal growth.
