Blue Starburst Crystalline Glaze with Dramatic Crystal Growth
Moss Agate Studio Line Crystalline Glaze develops dramatic blue radial crystal bursts across a dark blue-grey gloss surface. The large star-like formations create strong contrast and make the crystalline growth a dominant part of the decoration, with small warm brown areas adding further variation in the supplied fired sample.
Choose Moss Agate when you want clearly defined blue crystal development rather than a uniform glaze colour. Crystal size, colour and distribution can change with glaze thickness, clay body, firing cycle and kiln conditions, so test the glaze on your chosen clay body and schedule before using it on important pieces.
- Known to flow during firing, so keep heavier application away from the base and allow for glaze movement.
- A standard Cone 6 firing at around 1220°C can develop crystal formations with a soak.
- Extended or stepped cooling can encourage larger or more complex crystal growth.
