Soft White Crystalline Glaze with Flower-Like Crystal Growth
Calcite Studio Line Crystalline Glaze develops soft white to pale grey flower-like crystals across a warm neutral gloss surface. Large radial formations sit alongside smaller crystalline patches, creating a light mineral appearance with visible movement and contrast rather than a flat, uniform glaze colour.
Choose Calcite when you want pale crystalline growth to become the main decorative feature while retaining a softer overall colour palette. Crystal size, colour and distribution can change with glaze thickness, clay body and firing conditions, so use the fired sample as a guide and test your chosen application and firing schedule before using the glaze on important work.
- Known to flow during firing, so keep heavier application away from the base and allow for glaze movement.
- A standard Cone 6 firing at around 1220°C can develop crystal formations with a soak.
- Extended or stepped cooling can encourage larger or more complex crystal growth.
