Cobalt-Blue Crystalline Glaze with Bold Radial Crystal Growth
Azurite Studio Line Crystalline Glaze develops intense cobalt to violet-blue radial crystal formations across a deep blue gloss surface. The fired sample shows large overlapping crystals with darker centres and pronounced radiating lines, creating a highly defined crystalline surface where the crystal growth becomes the main decorative feature.
Choose Azurite when you want strong blue crystalline development and a more dramatic result than a uniform glaze colour. Crystal size, colour and distribution can change with glaze thickness, clay body and firing conditions, so use the fired sample as a guide and test your chosen application and firing schedule before using the glaze on important work.
- Known to flow during firing, so keep heavier application away from the base and allow for glaze movement.
- A standard Cone 6 firing at around 1220°C can develop crystal formations with a soak.
- Extended or stepped cooling can encourage larger or more complex crystal growth.
