Blue-Green Crystalline Glaze with Radial Crystal Formations
Aquamarine Studio Line Crystalline Glaze develops blue-green to grey-green crystal formations across a glossy fired surface, with warm exposed clay areas creating strong contrast between the glaze and the body beneath. The radial crystalline patterns give the surface pronounced movement and make the fired effect a prominent part of the finished decoration.
Choose Aquamarine when you want visible crystalline growth combined with areas where the clay body remains part of the overall appearance. Crystal size, colour and distribution can change with glaze thickness, clay body and firing conditions, so test the glaze on your chosen body and firing schedule before using it on important work.
- Known to flow during firing, so keep heavier application away from the base and allow for glaze movement.
- A standard Cone 6 firing at around 1220°C can develop crystal formations with a soak.
- Extended or stepped cooling can encourage larger or more complex crystal growth.
