Warm Orange Earthenware Engobe for Floral Sgraffito
Orange BOTZ Earthenware Engobe gives ceramic surfaces a warm orange colour with an earthy matt character when left without overglazing. Its lively tone works well as the main colour behind simple botanical and floral decoration: pale incised lines create a softer contrast against the orange, while darker outlines give the same surface a bolder, more graphic character.
Sgraffito can be used to carve lines and motifs through the coloured engobe, while slight dilution makes it suitable for marbling on soaked biscuit-fired or leather-hard clay. A thin transparent overglaze increases the colour intensity when a brighter orange result is preferred to the softer un-overglazed matt surface.
