  Description

Glossy Turquoise Colour with a Developing Crackle Network

Turquoise Crackle BOTZ Earthenware Glaze creates a transparent to semi-transparent turquoise surface with a glossy crackle effect. Its network of fine lines adds visible structure while allowing the underlying surface to remain part of the finished appearance, with the attached examples showing both pale turquoise crackling and deeper blue-turquoise areas.

Choose this glaze when the crackle pattern itself is intended to become part of the decoration. Most cracks develop after cooling and can continue to strengthen for up to a week. On some clays, a slightly thicker coat on horizontal areas such as plate or bowl interiors can form darker turquoise scale crackles.

If cracks do not develop The glaze can be removed from the kiln at approximately 100°C and quenched with cold water
Crackle colouring Black China ink, multi-coloured acrylic paints or strong black tea
Horizontal surfaces A slightly thicker coat can form darker turquoise scale crackles on some clays
Blistering note Can show blisters on some sorts of clay when applied on both sides or all around
