Once fired, the surface can be drawn on with chalk, making it a distinctive choice for ceramic pieces where chalk-drawn lettering or marks are part of the design, as well as sculptural forms where a soft, low-sheen black finish suits the surface.
Choose Chalkboard Black when you want a tactile matte surface rather than the reflective depth of a gloss black glaze. It is supplied as a liquid glaze for porcelain and stoneware and is suitable for dipping and layering. Because clay body, application thickness, layering and kiln conditions can alter the result, compare test tiles before applying it across a full batch.
