Blue-Grey Ash Character Inspired by Wood Firing

Blue Ash C6 Pro Series Dry Glaze develops a mottled blue-grey surface with darker blue, charcoal and muted green variation, creating the atmospheric character of pottery influenced by a wood-fired ash glaze. Its broken, natural-looking colour suits ribbed vessels, textured planters and sculptural forms where movement across the surface can emphasise throwing lines, contours and carved detail.

Choose Blue Ash instead of a clean, uniformly coloured blue glaze when you want greater tonal depth and a more weathered kiln-fired appearance. Test it on the intended clay body before larger work because the glaze can move and develop a darker result on some stonewares, while brighter clay bodies and porcelain generally reveal its blue ash variation more clearly.

  • Use labelled test tiles to compare the fired response across each clay body
  • Record application thickness and firing results when refining repeat studio batches
  • Test planned layered combinations before applying them to larger work
