Tactile Matte Black Glaze for Chalk Decoration
Chalkboard Black C6 Pro Series Dry Glaze fires to a deep matte black with a smooth, almost waxy surface that can be drawn on with chalk. The low-sheen finish gives ridged vessels, sculptural forms and contemporary decorative pieces a strong graphic character, while the tactile surface adds interest without the reflective appearance of a gloss glaze.
Choose this glaze when you want a touchable black surface and an interactive chalk feature rather than a polished gloss-black finish. Mix a test batch and fire it on the intended clay body before full-scale use, as changes in the clay, application thickness and firing process can affect the finished surface.
- Use labelled test tiles to compare application thickness before production work
- Check the chalk-drawing feature on the fired test before using it on an important piece
- Keep studio mixing notes to help repeat successful test results
