French Brown – Translucent Ceramic Underglaze – E-Z Stroke® 29ml
French Brown is a rich, earthy translucent brown, ideal for adding warmth, contrast, and natural depth
to ceramic designs. Its transparent quality makes it especially effective for shading, outlining,
and antique-style finishes.
Commonly used for woodgrain effects, animal details, lettering, and rustic or autumnal designs,
French Brown layers smoothly without overpowering underlying colours, making it perfect for detailed
brushwork and grounding brighter shades within a composition.
Application & Firing
- Apply one coat for translucent designs to greenware, unfired glaze, soft-fired bisque, or cone 04 bisque. Allow to dry.
- Fire to shelf cone 04.
- For bisque ware, apply to cone 04 bisque, allow to dry, and apply clear glaze if desired.
- Fire to shelf cone 06–05 (999°C–1046°C / 1830°F–1915°F).
- Apply additional thin coats to build depth and shading as required.
- Easy water clean-up.
When finished with a food-safe clear glaze, this underglaze is suitable for
functional dinnerware as well as decorative ceramic pieces.
