Classic Brown with Layered Light and Dark Effects
Create rich traditional brown surfaces with BOTZ Tenmoku Stoneware Glaze. This classic stoneware effect glaze develops a varied brown finish with lighter and darker areas, moving from satin-glossy at lower firing temperatures towards a stronger glossy effect at the upper end of its firing range.
Apply 2–3 coats and fire between 1220°C and 1280°C with a 30-minute soak. The glaze will not run off. At 1220°C it produces brown light and dark effects with a satin-glossy surface; at 1250°C it remains brown with varied effects and develops from satin-glossy towards glossy. At 1280°C the colour becomes slightly redder brown with light brown and black precipitations and a stronger glossy play of effects; BOTZ specifies applying only 2 coats at this temperature. This product uses the updated BOTZ formulation introduced in June 2024.
