Deep Glossy Blue with Light and Green-Toned Effects
Add rich blue colour and shifting tonal effects to stoneware with BOTZ Deep Blue Stoneware Glaze. This glossy glaze fires to a deep blue with lighter surface effects, while locally thicker coats can create subtle running effects and thinner areas may reveal greener tones.
Apply 2–3 coats, preferably 3 coats. The glaze will not run off, although BOTZ recommends using only 2 coats around the base of vessels when firing at 1280°C. Fire between 1220°C and 1280°C with a 30-minute soak. At 1220°C it produces a blue with small effects; at 1250°C it becomes brighter with light effects and can show a green base where applied thinly. At 1280°C the effects become particularly pronounced, with very thin areas and edges showing a green base.
