Deep Blue-Black with Glossy Light and Running Effects
Create a dark, atmospheric stoneware surface with BOTZ Black Blue Speckle Stoneware Glaze. This glossy effect glaze fires to blue-black tones with lighter areas and varied surface effects, while uneven or thicker application can encourage attractive running effects.
Apply 2–3 coats, with BOTZ recommending just 2 coats. The glaze can tend to run slightly when applied thickly, so application should be controlled accordingly. Fire between 1220°C and 1280°C with a 30-minute soak. At 1220°C it produces a soft black-blue surface with small light effects; at 1250°C it develops blue-black colour with stronger light and running effects; and at 1280°C only 2 coats should be applied, with very thin areas and edges revealing a brown base. This product uses the updated BOTZ formulation introduced in June 2024.
