Rose-Pink Earthenware Engobe for Delicate Sgraffito Contrast
Pink BOTZ Earthenware Engobe gives ceramic surfaces a muted rose-pink colour with an earthy matt character when left without overglazing. Its softer tone lends itself to simple decorative motifs where the colour can remain prominent without overpowering the linework; the cherry examples show how pale outlines create a gentle contrast while darker lines give the same pink ground a much bolder graphic finish.
Sgraffito can be used to cut motifs and fine detail through the coloured surface, while slightly diluted engobe is also suitable for marbling on soaked biscuit-fired or leather-hard clay. A thin transparent overglaze increases the colour intensity when a brighter pink result is preferred to the softer un-overglazed matt surface.
