  Description

Dark Green Earthenware Engobe for Architectural Linework

Dark Green BOTZ Earthenware Engobe gives ceramic surfaces a muted, deeper green colour with an earthy matt character when left without overglazing. The subdued green makes an effective background for detailed drawing and repeated shapes, with the building examples showing how pale lines can create strong definition while darker outlines give a quieter, more integrated result.

Sgraffito allows buildings, patterns and other designs to be cut through the coloured surface, while slightly diluted engobe can be used for marbling on soaked biscuit-fired or leather-hard clay. A thin transparent overglaze increases the colour intensity when a brighter green result is wanted instead of the softer un-overglazed matt surface.

Dark Green can also be used as a pourable clay for small objects. For this application, fire at 1050°C, where it sinters frost-resistant.
