Customer Notice regarding Ashraf Hanna Clay
Customers who use PF 520 (Ashraf Hanna) clay will soon notice a change to the unfired colour
of this clay. This is due to one of the ball clays in the recipe being withdrawn by our supplier
as a result of the quarry being exhausted. A series of trials has been undertaken on the clay, and with the
help of throwing expert Jon French, a solution has been found, which we think performs and
fires just as well as the original PF 520 clay. See pictures below showing the change to the
unfired clay colour and the corresponding colour after firing to 1050 degrees C.

PF 520 is the very best white raku body on the market. With over 55% molochite, this body can withstand the most extreme thermal shock. This is due to both the high alumina plastic ball clay and the three different grades of molochite. This body has very low shrinkage, a medium texture and is highly resistant to warping and cracking.
