Studio Line Crystalline Stoneware Effect Glaze – Rhyolite (550ml)
Studio Line Crystalline Stoneware Glazes are high-temperature ceramic glazes designed to create dramatic
crystal formations within the glaze surface during firing. As true crystalline glazes, each firing
produces completely unique results, with crystal size, shape and movement varying depending on application
thickness, clay body and firing schedule.
Rhyolite is a deep, earthy crystalline glaze featuring mossy green crystal clusters set against darker
background tones. Its organic, stone-like appearance makes it perfect for rustic tableware, textured
surfaces and nature-inspired ceramic forms.
- Stoneware crystalline (crystal) effect glaze
- Firing range: 1180–1280 °C (Cone 4–9)
- Gloss finish with strong crystal development
- Food safe when mixed with Matt, Bright or Celadon glazes in the Studio Line range
- May run – glaze catcher recommended
Basic application: Stir well before use. Apply by brush, sponge or stamp as a top coat.
Apply 2–3 coats depending on desired crystal effect, allowing each coat to dry fully.
Due to fluidity, reducing glaze thickness at the base of your piece is advised.
Larger crystal growth can be encouraged using controlled cooling and soak schedules.
A full Cone 7 firing schedule can be used for enhanced crystal development.
Please note: Fired results will vary. Crystal size, colour and distribution are influenced by clay body,
glaze thickness, firing cycle and kiln atmosphere. Sample images are indicative only.
