About This Training Day
Our Paint Your Own Pottery Business Training Day on Tuesday 16th June 2026
is designed for anyone planning to open a ceramic café, pottery painting studio or mobile
paint-a-pot business. The course is friendly, practical and ideal whether you are in the
early planning stages or getting ready to launch.
The training runs from 9:30am – 3:30pm in our fully equipped Studio 70
at Cromartie, in the heart of the Potteries.
What You’ll Learn
During the day, we’ll cover:
- Using underglazes and choosing suitable bisque and colour combinations
- Glazing and firing techniques, plus common mistakes to avoid
- How kilns and controllers work, and basic kiln care and maintenance
- Health & safety considerations for ceramics and studio environments
- Marketing, pricing and planning realistic business goals
- Troubleshooting common pottery and kiln issues
What’s Included
- Full day of training from 9:30am – 3:30pm
- Light buffet lunch and refreshments
- The opportunity to paint your own piece on the day
(we’ll glaze, fire and post it to you at no extra charge)
- Time to chat with other attendees and the Cromartie team
Price & Booking Information
The course price is £75.00 per person. Full payment is required at the time
of booking and bookings are non-refundable. However, the full training fee will be deducted
from your invoice when you place a first order of £250.00 net or more.
Dietary Requirements & Allergies
If you have any food allergies, intolerances or specific dietary requirements, please let us
know by completing the Dietary Requirements / Allergies box at checkout.
This helps us plan ahead and do our best to make sure you have suitable options on the day,
or let you know if it might be more comfortable to bring your own lunch.
Trade Registration
If you’re opening a ceramics business or Paint Your Own Pottery studio and already have your
business details, please complete our trade registration before your training day. This helps
us set you up as a trade customer with the correct pricing and makes it quicker and easier to
place orders both prior to the training day (for collection) and on the day itself.
We also credit the training fee in full when you place a first order of £250.00 net or more.
Having your trade account ready in advance helps us apply this smoothly.
