Concepts Underglazes

Duncan Concepts Underglazes have a versatile formula that allows for translucent designs with one coat and solid coverage with three. They’re also non toxic and food-safe with the application of three solid coats or when food-safe clear glaze is applied over them.

For best results, allow Concepts to dry completely before glazing. One to three coats of underglaze can be applied.

1 coat coverage is translucent.
2 coat coverage is semi-translucent or semi-opaque.
3 coat coverage is generally opaque.

Can be used for overall coverage. Can be used for washes and watercolour technique.

The Concepts numbering system (for most of the palette) is unique and useful when decorating: a. Colours ending in a 1 are light in tone
b. Colours ending in a 2 are bright in tone
c. Colours ending in a 3 are dark in tone

How to use Duncan® Concepts® Underglazes for Bisque

Apply to shelf cone 04 bisque.
2. Fire to shelf cone 06.
3. Clean up with water.
4. For clear glaze application, brush-on or dip clear glaze over Concepts.
5. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
6. Water clean up.
