8cm Biodegradable Plant Pots for Seedlings, Summer Planting & Kids’ Growing Projects
These 8cm biodegradable plant pots are a brilliant low-cost choice for spring and summer planting projects, seed sowing, cuttings and potting on young plants. At only 4p each, they are ideal for family growing activities, schools, holiday clubs, allotments, garden centres and anyone looking for an affordable alternative to plastic propagation pots.
Made from a natural fibre blend, these pots are designed to gradually break down once planted out. This helps to reduce plastic waste and minimise root disturbance, as young plants can be transferred straight into the soil without being removed from the pot.
They are perfect for growing sunflower seedlings with the kids, starting herbs for homemade gifts, creating “grow your own” presents, or setting up simple summer planting projects where children can watch their plants grow from seed to flower. Just fill, sow, water and enjoy the tiny green drama.

Planting tip:
When planting out, ensure the pot is fully buried below soil level and kept well watered to encourage the material
to break down naturally. This helps the roots grow through the pot and settle into the soil with less disturbance.
Project idea:
Fill each pot with compost, sow a sunflower seed, herb seed or small flower seed, then let children decorate a plant label and watch their seedlings grow. These make lovely low-cost growing projects for schools, nurseries, holiday clubs, family craft days and personalised “grow your own” gifts.
